Christmas gift list

Missie (http://missiesupsidedownworld.blogspot.com/) 's entry today is about grown up gift lists and I will just repeat what a friend of mine had to say the other day about the same thing. He has had muscular distrophy all his life (about fifty I think) and is in a wheelchair a lot. He is very disabled to say the least. He calls me about three times a week and keeps me up to date with family stuff. He is a first cousin to my second Xhusband. Anyway, talk of turkey day led to Christmas talk and he said that all he wanted was for no one to ever be sick (his sister died of the same disease a few years back shortly after her fortieth b.d. She had called me on her b.d. to tell me that it was and that was the last time I talked to her); no one to ever be hungry or homeless; and no more wars and death. He is so thankful for any little thing good that comes his way and never fails to tell me about them. He could have mentioned a dozen things or more that he would like to have but it didn't seem to even cross his mind. We should all be like him.

I agree, those are the truly important things, not decorations or presents. Bless him.

Yes we tend to forget the real reason and to be thankful for all we have our health being so important. Bless your friend.

He hit the nail on the head. My daughter has been hounding me for suggestions of what to get me. All I could say is 'world peace'. For the first time in my life I can't think of a thing I need or want that can be bought. It's time to get Christmas back to what it once was...a celebration of the birth of Christ.
Hugs, Joyce
